Historical Society Program Videos – 2026

Our February 2026 program was a presentation by University of Montevallo Professor of History and Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, Dr. Ruth Truss. Dr. Truss spoke about the fragile and invaluable personal journal of an Alabama woman,  Sarah Haynsworth Gayle (1827 – 1835) that she researched and assisted with editing for publication in 2013.

Popular Montevallo High School and Junior High math teacher, Doug Morris spoke to the spring General Membership meeting of the Montevallo Historical Society on Sunday, April 26, 2026 at Parnell Library in Montevallo. The audience was one of the largest we have had in some time, which speaks to the interest and loyalty that remains among his family, friends, former colleagues, and students.
